The pastor or pastoral resident doing your premarital counseling will officiate your wedding for an honorarium of $350 if you do not already have an officiant.
Who can ask for a College Park pastor to officiate a wedding?
Members, regular attenders, and those pursuing membership at College Park Church may request premarital counseling, which includes a wedding officiant. At least one person needs to be a member or regular attender of College Park to participate. If you are attending another church, we encourage you to reach out to your church home and ask what premarital counseling options they have available.
How do I request a College Park pastor to officiate my wedding?
If you are receiving premarital counseling through College Park Church, the pastor or pastoral resident doing your premarital counseling will also officiate your wedding if you ask them to.
If you do not have a pastor you can ask personally to officiate your wedding, send your request to soulcare@yourchurch.com, and a member of our team will contact you. Once assigned a pastor to officiate your weeding, this pastor will also begin your premarital counseling as part of the request to officiate.
How much does the honorarium cost?
The rate to officiate a wedding onsite or offsite by a College Park pastor is $350 (check made directly to the pastor officiating the wedding, not to the church).
What if I want a pastor from another church to officiate?
If you wish to be married onsite at College Park Church and want someone to officiate your wedding who is not a College Park pastor, the person must be approved by the Assistant Pastor of Soul Care.
If you wish to be married at College Park Church and the pastor marrying you is not a College Park pastor and is also not doing your premarital counseling, you will be assigned to a couple from our Premarital Ministry. (This is a rare occurrence.) These couples are biblically trained counselors and will meet with you for a minimum of four sessions and take you through SYMBIS. There is a $35 cost for the SYMBIS assessment.
If you are NOT getting married onsite at College Park Church and the pastor marrying you is not a College Park pastor, there is no request that needs to be made.
What if I just want to get married at College Park?
If you wish to be married onsite at College Park Church, participation in premarital counseling is required.
How do I reserve College Park for my wedding?
The request/arrangements to be married onsite at College Park Church is separate from the request for premarital counseling. First, read through our Wedding Guide to ensure we can meet your desires for your ceremony, and then email Amy Spencer to check on availability and dates.
What is a marriage mentor?
Marriage mentors are couples who are members of College Park Church, have been married for a minimum of ten years, have displayed a godly marriage through adversity, and have remained faithful to the covenant of marriage. They have participated in a training class led by lay biblical counselors and are SYMBIS certified.
What is the expectation of a marriage mentor?
Upon completing premarital counseling, you have the option to be assigned to a marriage mentor for ongoing discipleship and support in your first year of marriage. You and your mentor couple will meet regularly, at least once a month, for ongoing discipleship and walk through a marriage book together. The goal of marriage mentors is to support you in your first year of marriage and to serve as a resource for you when challenges arise. We encourage couples to meet once a month for a year and then continue the relationship after the first year.
